Kvadrat Febrik BERG
Our objective was to create a sculptural piece that highlights and mimics the characteristics of the Febrik collection. The enchanting imagery of Razzle Dazzle, like colliding icebergs, was the inspiration for BERG. BERG intends to serve as a reminder for the imminent consequences of climate change.
Large bodies of ice, as if chiselled by artisans, float idly on ocean waters. Appearing man made yet entirely natural. They can be seemingly monolithic and permanent at first glance; however, they are at the same time extremely delicate and fragile. Their form ephemeral as they drift freely.
Inspired by these intriguing contrasts of icebergs, BERG is a chaise lounge designed with sculpturality in mind but still echoes a human touch with its use of fabric and its ergonomic form. The scale of the piece can only be understood by the introduction of people in its presence, much like the object of inspiration.
BERG features a gentle curve that contrasts the angular pattern of the fabric, yet the crisp edges of the form complements the pattern. We chose to use only one other material – metal. The juxtaposition of the metal’s coldness and the fabric’s warmth creates a dialogue between the two components of the piece. Furthermore, the hyper reflective base disappears and is camouflaged with its surrounding, creating a void below that elevates the fabric above.
